at a glance

  1. 1

FLL served about 32.2 million passengers in 2025 (20th-busiest U.S. airport by passengers; 14th for international). About 6.2 million were international. Monthly traffic on the current media grid is about 2.93 million. Port Everglades, roughly two miles away, moved about 4.77 million cruise guests in fiscal 2025.

  2. 2

It is primarily an origin-and-destination airport and a JetBlue focus city, with Southwest as a major domestic carrier. Four terminals (1–4) split the airlines. Concourse units reach everyone in that building; baggage claim and the curb reach people who are actually entering Broward, Hollywood, or Port Everglades — including cruise embarkations.

  3. 3

Inventory is sold in 28-day periods. Digital loops: Direct View Network:10 in:100 (one of about 10, ~10% SOV); Arrivals Digital Network:10 in:220 (one of about 22, ~4.5% SOV). Print is sold as faces and packages by terminal.

  4. 4

Planning ranges: a single unit or network runs about $1,500–$45,000 per 28-day period. A two- or three-unit package runs about $8,000–$90,000. A Terminal 1 floor exhibit or multi-terminal digital domination runs north of $95,000 per period. Production and install for standard print typically add hundreds to a few thousand dollars per unit. Those are planning ranges, not a rate card.

  5. 5

The resident and visitor base runs year-round: Broward business, Hollywood leisure, Caribbean and Latin American travel, snowbirds, and students from NSU and FAU. Conference weeks at the Broward County Convention Center and FLIBS at the waterfront change who is in the building for a defined period.

  6. 6

Holds expire five business days after confirmation. Materials must be in market 14–18 business days before start for digital creative and 21–28 days before start for static creative. Contracts are non-cancellable once signed. Annual rate increases apply to multi-year agreements. Competitive separation may be possible, but it isn’t guaranteed; ask when booking and write it into the contract.

One period = 28 days. Rates are non-cancellable once contracted. Pricing quotes are typically valid for 30 days. Annual rate increases apply to multi-year agreements. Holds expire five business days after hold confirmation; extensions are not guaranteed. All creative is subject to final airport authority approval before production or posting. Materials must be produced and received in market 14–18 business days before start for digital creative and 21–28 days before start for static creative to guarantee on-time posting. Proof of performance: print — one close-up and one environmental photo per contracted location within five business days of initial posting; digital — one close-up and one environmental for single units, and for packaged networks photos covering 10% of locations plus each ad's stacked content, within five business days. Timing

When should you buy FLL,
and how far ahead?

For B2B, FLIBS at the end of October, World Architecture Festival in mid-November, and ITEXPO in February, plus mid-tier convention-center shows. For consumer, hospitality, and cruise brands, winter embarkation season, Thanksgiving through New Year, spring break, and summer Caribbean flying. The base audience is in the building every period; the calendar changes the mix.

EAM's take<p>The mistake at FLL is treating it like Orlando or like a pure conference airport.

The mistake at FLL is treating it like Orlando or like a pure conference airport. Theme-park creative misses the cruise clock and the boat-show buyer; buying only a conference week ignores year-round Port Everglades embarkations. Match the period to the audience first — cruise and resident always-on, or FLIBS / WAF / ITEXPO peaks — then pick the terminal and the direction.

How far in advance do you need to book?

FLIBS, Thanksgiving-to-New-Year, and peak winter cruise embarkation: hold 4–6 months out. ITEXPO, World Architecture Festival, and spring break: 8–12 weeks. Standard periods: 4–8 weeks is usually enough. FLL prices by 28-day period; event-market tiers apply to at least the Terminal 1 floor exhibit. Availability, not a published Q4 multiplier, is what usually creates the premium.

Why this airport

Why do brands advertise
at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International (FLL)?

Because the trip is Broward, Hollywood, or a berth at Port Everglades — not a connection to somewhere else. About 32 million passengers a year cross four terminals for the cruise port two miles away, the beaches, Caribbean and Latin American routes, Broward's employers, and the convention and boat-show calendar.

How this airport is boughtFort Lauderdale-Hollywood is bought for who is going to Port Everglades and who lives in Broward, and peaked by.

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood is bought for who is going to Port Everglades and who lives in Broward, and peaked by the weeks the convention center and boat show fill the building. Port Everglades sits about two miles from FLL and moved nearly 4.8 million cruise guests in fiscal 2025 — the world's third-busiest cruise homeport. Those passengers land, reclaim bags, and head to a berth; the arrivals path is the first media of the trip. Year-round, JetBlue's focus city, Southwest's primary South Florida airport, Caribbean and Latin American leisure, Hollywood beach traffic, and Broward's resident workforce keep four terminals busy. Conference weeks (FLIBS, World Architecture Festival, ITEXPO, trade shows) change who is in the building. This is not Orlando: no theme-park spine, no Q4 network premium on the card here, and a 28-day buying unit instead of a one-week show flight. The page weights the cruise-and-resident base and the conference calendar equally.

Audience

Who actually flies
through FLL?

About 32.2 million passengers in 2025, mostly beginning or ending in Broward or heading to Port Everglades. Four terminals split the airlines. JetBlue and Southwest carry large domestic and Caribbean shares; Delta owns Terminal 2; Terminal 4 carries much of the international mix. Terminal assignments have been in flux after Spirit's exit from the market in 2026; check the current FLL map when planning.

Hub / connecting note

FLL is not Atlanta. Most passengers start or end in South Florida. JetBlue is building more one-stop Caribbean and Latin American connections, so some concourse traffic never claims a bag. Buy concourse and security-adjacent units when the brief includes anyone on that concourse; buy claim, banners, column wraps, outdoor arrivals columns, and the curb when the brief is people actually in Broward — cruise guests, hotel arrivals, meeters and greeters, and residents coming home.

Leisure travelers in an airport terminal

Cruise embarkations and Port Everglades traffic (year-round, peaking winter)

Nearly 4.8 million cruise guests moved through Port Everglades in FY2025, with growth expected as new ships homeport — including Legend of the Seas planned for November 2026. Pre- and post-cruise hotels, transfers, and fly-cruise packages put them through FLL claim and curb with a ship clock running. Hospitality, transfer, connectivity, and destination brands buy arrivals for this audience.

Business travelers in an airport terminal

Conference and boat-show inbound (calendar peaks)

FLIBS (October 28–November 1, 2026), World Architecture Festival (November 18–20, 2026), ITEXPO (February 9–11, 2027), and mid-tier convention-center shows. Exhibitors and buyers arrive on legacy and JetBlue flights. This is the audience most B2B buys at FLL are for.

Leisure travelers in an airport terminal

Caribbean, Latin American, and international leisure

About 6.2 million international passengers in 2025. JetBlue's Caribbean and Latin American network, plus Terminal 4 carriers, put inbound and outbound leisure in the building. Summer and winter both matter; Arrivals Digital and Terminal 4 claim-side units are the inbound buy.

Domestic business travelers in an airport terminal

Broward and Hollywood residents (always-on)

Broward's workforce, beach communities, healthcare systems, marine and hospitality employers, and professionals on Northeast and Midwest routes. Departure-side Concourse D security fabric and campus digital frequency reach them on the way out — the audience for recruiting, healthcare, financial, and university campaigns.

Students and alumni in an airport terminal

Students and universities

Nova Southeastern and Florida Atlantic University send students out and bring families in at semester starts and commencement. Out-of-state programs recruit here. Education brands EAM has placed in airports include Wharton, BYU, the University of Michigan, the University of Pittsburgh, and UT Dallas. ---

Who advertises

What kinds of brands advertise at FLL,
and what are they trying to do?

Cruise lines, hotels, and transfer brands catching Port Everglades traffic; marine and luxury brands around FLIBS; conference exhibitors at ITEXPO and WAF; Caribbean and Latin American inbound brands; Broward healthcare, financial, and employers on the departure side; universities recruiting the metro's students. Cruise-and-resident base first, conference peaks second — that is the spine order.

Why an independent agency

EAM Advertising is an independent airport and in-flight media agency, founded in 2015. We specialize in airport and in-flight media and nothing else, and we do not own media assets at FLL or any airport. That independence is why the recommendations hold up. We plan and buy across 125+ airports and 45+ airlines worldwide, which is the leverage and the current-availability knowledge a one-time FLL buyer does not have. Clients include Fortinet, Dynatrace, Rubrik, McGraw-Hill, and Wharton. When the strategy extends beyond Fort Lauderdale — a Spanish plan with Madrid, a European launch, an MWC roadshow — the same relationship covers the other markets. See the airport advertising hub.

Measurement

How do you measure
an FLL campaign?

Proof of posting and digital play logs are factual. Delivered impressions are modeled. Brand lift is the only method that speaks to effect, and it has to be fielded before the flight. Direct pipeline attribution is not reliably available. A cruise embarkation window or a FLIBS / ITEXPO period is a defined population; a resident always-on flight is better suited to a geo-targeted Broward panel than to a one-week lift study.

What can and can't be measured on an airport campaign
MeasureWhat It Actually Tells YouWhen to Set It UpConfidence
Proof of postingPhotographic confirmation that every unit ran, in the right place, for the full period. Print: one close-up and one environmental per location. Digital: close-up and environmental for single units; 10% of locations for packaged networks, plus stacked-content photos. Document within five business days of initial posting.Written into the contract before signingHigh — factual
Delivered impressionsModeled audience delivery based on airport traffic and unit position. An estimate built from traffic data, not a count of people who looked.Requested at proposal stageModerate — modeled
Digital play logsActual spot counts and share of voice on digital networks. The check on whether the loop crowding you planned against actually materialized.Requested at contractingHigh — logged
Brand lift studySurvey-based awareness or perception change against a control. The only method that measures effect rather than exposure.Fielded pre-flight for a baselineModerate — needs budget and lead time
Direct attribution to pipelineNot reliably available. Airport media has no click, and the same brands run other touchpoints at the same time.—Low — treat claims here with skepticism
Callout — What FLL's audience makes possibleFLIBS or ITEXPO gives a defined industry population and a short window — the cleanest lift setup here.

FLIBS or ITEXPO gives a defined industry population and a short window — the cleanest lift setup here. A winter cruise hold can survey bookers or pre/post hotel guests if the sample can be recruited. Resident always-on can use a Broward geo panel. Do not promise attributed bookings from a claim-hall LCD.

The honest framing for anyone defending this spend internally: proof of posting and play logs prove the campaign ran as bought, delivered impressions size the audience, and a lift study is the only line that speaks to effect. A vendor promising attributed pipeline from airport media is overselling. EAM contracts proof of posting and delivery reporting on every campaign as standard and will tell you plainly when a proposed measurement approach won't produce a number worth presenting.

How to read the numbers<p>Delivered impressions on the media grid are built from monthly traffic on the order of 2.

Delivered impressions on the media grid are built from monthly traffic on the order of 2.93 million and unit position — audience sizing, not verified views. Proof of posting is contractual: print and digital photo packages within five business days of initial posting, as in section 4.

Questions

Frequently asked
questions about FLL

How much does it cost to advertise at Fort Lauderdale airport (FLL)?

A single unit or network runs about $1,500 to $45,000 per 28-day period, depending on format and location. A two- or three-unit package runs about $8,000 to $90,000. A Terminal 1 floor exhibit or multi-terminal digital domination runs north of $95,000 per period. Production and install for standard print typically add hundreds to a few thousand dollars per unit. Those are planning ranges; specific units and periods are quoted against current availability.

How is FLL airport advertising sold?

In 28-day periods. The Direct View Network runs a 10-second spot in a 100-second loop (about 10% share of voice). The Arrivals Digital Network runs a 10-second spot in a 220-second loop (about 4.5% share of voice). Print and fabric are exclusive faces for the period. Holds expire five business days after confirmation. Materials are due in market 14–18 business days before start for digital creative and 21–28 days before start for static creative. Contracts are non-cancellable once signed.

Which terminal should I advertise in at FLL?

The one your audience's airlines use. Terminal 1 carries Southwest, United, Frontier, and related domestic leisure. Terminal 2 is Delta, Air Canada, and WestJet. Terminal 3 is JetBlue's domestic base plus American and others. Terminal 4 carries international carriers and JetBlue international, with assignments still shifting after Spirit's 2026 exit. The Direct View and Arrivals Digital networks cover all four terminals in one buy.

Can FLL advertising reach cruise passengers headed to Port Everglades?

Yes — on the arrivals path. Port Everglades is about two miles from the airport. Cruise guests reclaim bags and head to the curb or a transfer; that is where claim fabric, column wraps, the Arrivals Digital Network, and outdoor arrivals columns work. Concourse units also reach them if they walk that concourse, but claim and curb are the embarkation buy.

Can I reach connecting passengers at FLL?

Some JetBlue passengers connect through the focus city and may never visit baggage claim. Concourse and security-adjacent units reach them; claim-hall and curb units do not. If the brief is people actually entering Broward or boarding a ship, weight claim and curb. If the brief includes anyone using a concourse, include those faces.

How far in advance should I book FLL for FLIBS or winter cruise?

FLIBS and peak winter cruise: plan to hold four to six months out. World Architecture Festival, ITEXPO, and spring break: eight to twelve weeks is often enough. Standard periods: four to eight weeks. Holds themselves expire in five business days, so convert holds promptly.

Is FLL good for B2B advertising?

Yes, when your industry is in town — FLIBS for marine and luxury, ITEXPO for telecom and channel, World Architecture Festival for design leadership, plus mid-tier convention-center shows. Outside those periods FLL is cruise, leisure, and Broward resident; departure-side still reaches professionals, but the concentrated industry audience is the calendar.

Do cruise and hospitality brands dominate the loop?

They are heavy on the arrivals path, especially in winter. The Arrivals Digital Network's longer loop (about 22 advertisers) means thinner share of voice than the Direct View Network. Same-category brands should plan for that; other categories often find single-terminal print less contested than the arrivals digital loop.

Do universities advertise at FLL?

Yes. Out-of-state programs recruiting Broward and South Florida students, executive and certificate programs reaching professionals, and alumni campaigns around commencement. NSU and FAU anchor the local base. Education brands EAM has placed in airports include Wharton, BYU, the University of Michigan, the University of Pittsburgh, and UT Dallas. Natural periods are late August, mid-January, and May.

When is creative due for an FLL flight?

Materials must be produced and received in market 14–18 business days before start for digital creative and 21–28 days before start for static creative to guarantee on-time posting. All creative is subject to final airport authority approval before production or posting. Expect multiple fabric sizes and at least two digital aspect ratios (3840×1080 for Direct View; 1920×1080 for Arrivals LCDs) in a mixed buy.

Can I get category exclusivity at FLL?

Competitive separation may be possible, but it isn’t guaranteed; ask when booking and write it into the contract. Any separation has to be written into the contract. If exclusivity matters to the brief, raise it at quote and get the separation terms in the contract — do not assume a category hold across the whole airport.

What does EAM handle on an FLL campaign?

Everything after the objective. We check what's open for the week, which loops are crowded and which units will sell out, and where on the arrival path your audience actually walks. We recommend the mix, secure the units, traffic the creative through airport approval, confirm posting on day one, and deliver proof of posting and play logs after. If FLL is one market in a larger plan, the same relationship covers the others.
